Historic Downtown

Baldwin City offers memorable small-town shopping and is home to a number of wonderful restaurants. The Downtown Market Plaza features everything from antiques to art, Celtic to quilts, and coffee to carats. A variety of local produce, baked goods and flowers are featured during the Farmers market that takes place on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings from May through October. When completed, downtown’s Lumberyard Arts Center will feature both area and regional artworks, theater productions, classes and workshops.

Complementing ongoing opportunities are a variety of noteworthy special events, including the annual rite of autumn, The Maple Leaf Festival—featuring arts, crafts, historical area tours and consumables at hundreds of booths. Other annual attractions include Art Walks, Blues & BBQ, Planes Trains & Automobiles and the Holiday Light Parade.
