RecreationBaldwin City Community Theater(785) 594-7440 Baldwin City Community Theater began in 1991 offering acting opportunities to children and adults of all ages. Several productions are staged each year. In 2008, they have already held a dessert theatre and are making plans for the summer musical. Past productions have included Annie, Fiddler on the Roof, Oklahoma, Nunsense, Steel Magnolias, Show Boat and Grease. In addition, the theater runs a haunted train, Terror Tracks, in October and murder mystery trains in the summer in conjunction with the Midland Railway. Baldwin City Recreation Commission820 High Street, PO Box 871 The Baldwin City Recreation Commission offers activities for youths, adults and seniors in the community throughout the year. Programs include youth and adult sports, swim lessons and monthly senior events. Youth SportsWe currently provide the following annual team sports for most ages 5-15: * T-ball * Baseball * Softball * Basketball * Soccer (fall league only at this time) * Flag Football (fall league only at this time)Kids Day OutField trip fun for kids grades K-5th! The Kids Day Out program is an activity day for those weekdays when school is not in session. Field trips, games and other activities are the focus of these special days for your children.Summer CampsFull days are available for children K-5th grade. Campers must have completed Kindergarten. Camps are developed around a theme, such as science, nature, sports, or art. Each week camp ends with a field trip on Friday. Contact the recreation office for additional camp information. Senior ActivitiesSpecial senior activities are planned monthly throughout the year. Past events have included dances, teas, Bingo, pool parties, a pool tournament, and excursion trips.
SwimmingFrom Memorial Day to August 13th, 2008, the Baldwin City Municipal Pool is open Monday through Saturday from 11:30 am – 5 pm and then 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Water AerobicsSee web site for times.
