Birding Walk and Prairie Seeding at Black Jack Battlefield and Nature Park

  • 719 High Street Baldwin City, KS US (map)

Join Grassland Heritage Foundation, Native Lands LLC, Jayhawk Audubon Society, and Black Jack Battlefield and Nature Park at Black Jack Battlefield for a great morning outdoors!

Led by Roger Boyd, Emeritus Professor of Biology, Baker University and Field Trip Chair for Jayhawk Audubon Society, join us for a guided birding walk through the nature trails at Black Jack Battlefield. After the walk, we invite you all into the prairie to help us disperse native prairie seed that was collected and cleaned by volunteers. All ages are welcome!

Masks will be required, especially as we gather as a group at the beginning of the event.

Please come prepared for working and exploring the outdoors, including wearing warm layers and sturdy, closed-toed shoes. Also, don't forget to bring along a pair of binoculars if you have them! If you plan to attend the seeding, feel free to bring along your own work gloves. We will have extra gloves on hand if you need it.

Please RSVP for this event here: RSVP Here. We will notify you via the email you sign up with if we need to reschedule the event due to weather.
