Sharon Ashworth will present “Botany for Gardeners” focusing on key aspects of plant science which helps gardeners understand plant responses to the environment, plant reproduction, and plant identification.
Sharon Ashworth has worked for government agencies, non-profits, the private sector, and universities. The common thread in all her work is land stewardship. She received her Ph.D. in ecology in 2003 from the University of Kansas and has been working with K-State Research & Extension Douglas County since 2011; first as a volunteer with the Douglas County Extension Master Gardeners (EMG), then as the Horticulture Program Assistant, and now as the Horticulture and Natural Resources agent for Douglas County. Sharon's increasing commitment to Extension comes from the fact that every day she gets to help people solve their horticultural conundrums or create something beautiful, whether that be a single potted plant or a prairie.
