Help Us Design New Pole Banners!
What do you love about Baldwin City? Show us, or tell us!
Use words or images to share your favorite elements of Baldwin City’s heritage, landmarks, and natural beauty. All input received will be used to inform new designs for the pole banners downtown, celebrating our local identity.
This design project is open to everyone!
WHY: The objective of this project is to enhance the vibrancy and appeal of our downtown area by generating 6-8 designs and installing 60 new pole banners that evoke local pride, celebrate our history, and promote the physical assets of our community.
WHAT: This project entails the creation and installation of 6-8 unique pole banner designs that will be placed throughout the downtown area. Each design will be carefully crafted to showcase elements of Baldwin City's heritage, landmarks, and natural beauty. The banners will serve as visual representations of our community's identity and will contribute to creating an inviting atmosphere for residents and visitors alike.
WHEN: Public input submissions are open December 9th, 2024, through February 17th, 2025. The design will continue through a curated theme selection and artist design process that is expected to take until approximately June of 2025.
HOW IT WORKS: Once the public input process closes on February 17th, the Main Street Design Committee will identify and consolidate common themes. The Committee, which is made up of individuals from the Community Mural Committee, the Chamber of Commerce Board, local historians, artists, and other volunteers, will then select 6-8 themes reflecting the essence of Baldwin City to present to the Council Community Development Committee.
SUBMIT: Be unique, and reflect your own love of Baldwin City. Tell us and/or show us what you personally love most about Baldwin City. Pick up an entry form from City Hall, the Baldwin City Community Center, Baldwin City Chamber of Commerce, or the Baldwin City Ks. Public Library OR click on the image below. You may submit the forms to the same locations.
